There are a number of ways to developing and maintaining a positive mental attitude. Believe In You: Developing and maintaining a successful attitude requires believing that every situation has a solution and every challenge can be overcome; and believing that YOU have the power to find the solution and overcome the challenge. Unless you believe in yourself, no one else will and that’s a fact. Unless you believe that you can overcome the challenge, no matter how difficult, the challenge will remain and you stay a victim. As long as you keep looking outside of yourself for a solution, nothing will change. As long as you keep expecting the solution to fall on your lap or for someone to hand the answer to you, you will remain exactly where you are. The only way to successfully overcome any challenge and achieve ANY goal in life is to you believe in yourself and develop a “get-off-your-butt-and-do-it” attitude. By firmly believing that a solution exists to our problems or believe that we are able to overcome our current challenge, and then our mind begins to accept this as true and immediately sets out looking for creative solutions. Our beliefs precede our attitude and it is what we believe about ourselves and our circumstances that will reflect in our attitudes. Why is it that super-achievers never appear bogged down by life for too long? Why is it that highly successful people always seem to keep on achieving success? It is because they have the attitude that anything is possible. They are more focused on finding the solution to their challenges instead of concentrating on the challenge itself. Keep Your Eye on Your Goal: People with poor mental attitudes generally see the future as bleak with little or no opportunities. Hence, every challenge or problem becomes further evidence of just how unfair life is. By not having a crystal clear idea of where they are going or what they want out of life, they lack a compelling motivation to push through challenges; and this only makes matters worse. However, by establishing exactly what one wants out of life and maintaining a keen focus on achieving that outcome, one is able to sustain a positive attitude and weather some of life’s challenges. Focusing on the positive result you desire will displace the current negative mind-set and this not only energises you but allow you to seek out more inspired resolutions to your problems. So say for example that you sales are down and you really want things to improve. All the complaining and excuses in the world will not make a stitch of a difference. Having a victim mind set and negative attitude will only make matters worse as customers will pick up on this and will be discouraged to do business. Things only get worse. The best course of action is to determine what result you wish to achieve, by when you want to achieve it and develop a “stick-with-it” attitude. Even if things look really bad, surely, if fighting for survival presents the slightest chance of success, won’t you rather fight than just roll over and give up. Stop musing over the situation, complaining and making excuses for why things are not working out, rather focus on the positive outcome. Visualise daily what it would be like getting the result you want and how great you feel getting it. Replace this image and focus intensely on achieving it instead of wallowing in a victim-like mind-set. Also remember, your inner world eventually manifests in your outer world. The manner in which life responds to you is a function of how you believe it will. Human beings respond positively to upbeat energy and a can-do attitude. We respond to confident and self-assured people. We respond to people who appear to know what they want, where they are going and how to get there. We respond positively to these character traits because intrinsically these are the traits we naturally aspire toward even if we may not be aware. As a result, when a person decides to engage life and its challenges head on and with an optimistic attitude, life responds, people respond and opportunities reveal themselves. Think about it, why is it that people at the point of ruin and financial disaster are suddenly able to turn everything around? Simple – they adopt a “never-say-die”” attitude and keep fighting. They refuse to back down and keep themselves motivated. They remain motivated by sticking to the vision of the positive outcome they desire to achieve. Keep Slugging At It: Having a successful attitude is great, but it’s not enough. If a goal is going to be achieved, effort is going to have to be applied. Great attitude and persistent effort are in actual fact the keys to amazing achievement. By applying the above you will become truly unstoppable. You will become able to overcome any challenge and achieve any goal.
